Authorizations page

The authorizations page shows the three ways to collect your customers' authorizations using Rotessa.

To send an email authorization:

Using Rotessa, you can send your customers a private link to your authorization form. This method is best for customers already added to your Rotessa account without authorization or banking information.

  1. In your Rotessa home page, go to the Authorizations page and select Send Email Authorizations. This will take you to a page where you can search and select customers.
  2. Select the customer(s) you wish to send an authorization to and select Continue.
  3. A preview of the email will appear. You can edit the message before sending.
  4. Once you're happy with the message, select Send Email.

Custom link URL

The custom link URL is a live version of your Rotessa-generated online PAD agreement that you can send to customers, or place in your payments workflow.
Note: Microdeposits are enabled by default for this authorization method.

To share your custom link:

  1. In your home page, go to the Authorizations page and find Share a public link to your authorization form.
  2. Select Copy and paste the link in an email or embed it on your website.

To customize your link URL:

  1. In the home page, go to the Authorizations page and select Edit and Preview beside the custom link.
  2. Scroll down to the Link URL section and make your changes.
Note: Custom links can only include letters and numbers and must be between 5 and 20 characters.
  3. Once you're happy with the changes, select Save at the bottom of the page.

Printed authorization(s)

If you prefer to have your customers sign a physical authorization form, you can generate a printable PDF through Rotessa.

  1. In the home page, go to the Authorizations page and select Create PDF Authorization. This will take you to the PAD form generator.
  2. Fill in the required business information in the form generator.
  3. Enter your email address at the bottom of the page and select Get My PDF. A copy of the authorization form will be sent to your email as an attachment.
  4. Print the form and have your customers fill it out and sign it.

Authorization settings

The Authorization Settings page allows you to personalize your authorization forms, creating a simple and on-brand experience for your customers. To access it, select Edit and Preview anywhere on the Authorizations page.

The preview on the left shows what your customers will see when they open your authorization form.

Logo
Upload your logo so customers know the form is coming from your business.

Contact information
Payments Canada requires your contact information to be displayed on the authorization. Select Contact Information to open the dropdown and update your business address, email address, and/or phone number. Select Save at the bottom of the page when done.

Introduction page
An optional page where you can provide your customers with additional instructions for completing the authorization form. Supports custom text up to 300 characters.

Terms and conditions
Edit the terms and conditions of your authorization here. Refer to Rule H1 on the Payments Canada website for all legal requirements around PADs.

We recommend adding a clause about recouping the cost of any decline fees from your customer.

Language
Choose between English or French as your default authorization language. Select Language to open the dropdown, make your selection, and select Save at the bottom of the page.

Fields
The default name field determines the type of customers you're collecting from. Rotessa defaults to Personal — if you primarily collect from businesses, change this to Business.

Rotessa doesn't use customer phone numbers or addresses by default. If you'd like to collect this information, you can enable these fields and they'll appear on your authorization form.

Instant Bank Verification
Instant bank verification allows customers to verify their bank information and identity through online banking. If they're unable to complete this step, they'll be redirected to a microdeposit.

You can also require microdeposits for email authorization requests. With microdeposits turned off, they will not be enabled on email authorization requests.

Email
The default email message is what your customers receive when you send an email authorization request. A generic template is provided, but you can edit it as needed.

Link URL
Customize your authorization link to something more recognizable to your customers. Only the section after https://app.rotessa.com/authorize/ can be edited.
