Rotessa's custom identifier

The custom identifier is a unique field used to identify each customer in Rotessa. You can have customers with similar or the same names, but each customer has a unique custom identifier.

In most cases, the custom identifier is the same as the name of the customer unless it has been manually changed.

CSV imports

When importing transactions from our CSV template, the custom identifier properly assigns each transaction to the correct customer.

Integrations

When using accounting integrations like QuickBooks Online or Xero, the custom identifier must match the contact name in your accounting software in order to connect your customer for the first time.

Once the customer is connected however, Rotessa no longer needs to use the custom identifier to maintain that connection. Rotessa uses the customer ID from QuickBooks Online or Xero to keep the customer connected to the customer in QuickBooks Online or Xero.

The customer ID is generated by QuickBooks Online or Xero and is not editable. Using the customer ID provides a more stable connection between the integration and Rotessa as well as allows you to alter the customer name in QuickBooks Online or Xero without the customer getting disconnected unintentionally in Rotessa.
